Our Team

It takes more than a bunch of seedlings to do the job right.

Since its inception in 1990, Mid Atlantic has worked to become the company generations of landowners can depend on for their forestry needs. As a family-owned business, this has been accomplished by integrating the family's values with qualified personnel to protect your timberlands.

We are sad to announce the loss of Bob Fauteux. Bob's battle with cancer ended on September 25, 2022. With the guidance and work ethics of his parents, Jeanne and Sylvio, Bob's leadership built a company to carry through the next generation in Alex Fauteux.

Alex not only has a business degree from Radford University but years of experience working in every capacity on the crews. Currently a foreman on one of our 4 crews, he is fulfilling the plan of combining education with experience to provide a cost-effective quality job for our customers.

The quality of our work in the field and office has sustained us for over 30 years in the logging industry. With 3 foresters, 4 full-time logging crews plus a dozer and a small forestry mulcher, hopefully, we can help with your forestry needs.

If you decide to give us an opportunity your initial contact may be one of the following:

Bob Fauteux - President of Mid Atlantic Tree Harvestors

Bob Fauteux

President

An industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience, Bob is a co-founder of Mid Atlantic. He has served as company president since 2003, overseeing all daily operations and directing strategic growth initiatives. Bob fulfilled several roles with the company prior to being named president and worked five years in the industry before helping launch Mid Atlantic more than 20 years ago.

Sylvio Fauteux - Vice President of Mid Atlantic Tree Harvestors

Sylvio Fauteux

Vice President

Sylvio has seen and done it all over the course of his more than a half-century in the industry. He spent 35 years logging and harvesting timber in a wide range of leadership positions before co-founding Mid Atlantic in 1991. He handed over daily management duties some years ago, but continues contributing his skills as company vice president. Like every true Master, Sylvio loves what he does, never wants to retire, and looks forward to serving our customers for a long time to come.

Jeanne Fauteux - Mid Atlantic Tree Harvestors

Jeanne Fauteux

Secretary

An expert at “multi-tasking” long before the term was invented, Jeanne excels at many roles: wife to Sylvio, mother to Bob, co-founder of Mid Atlantic and is currently holds the title “secretary.” Yet ask anyone and you’ll find she’s the person who does all the little and big things to keep us going – everything from answering the phone to putting together work gear for crew members before they head out to a job. Good manners prevent us from revealing Jeanne’s age. But trust us, this lady has more energy than most 30 year old  you’ll meet.

Andy Shorter - Chief Procurement Forester - Mid Atlantic Tree Harvestors

Andy Shorter

President

With more than 25 years of industry experience out in the field, Andy has served as chief procurement forester of Mid Atlantic since 1999. In this role, Andy visits customers to determine what type of harvest should be performed on their land, advises on ways to improve land usage, maintain a healthy environment, and makes recommendations for increasing land profits. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor's degree in forest resource management.

Alex Fauteux - Vice President - Mid Atlantic Tree Harvestors / Fauteux Trucking

Alex Fauteux

Vice President

Alex is Vice President and co-owner of MATH and Fauteux Trucking. As a third-generation logger, it’s easy to say that sawdust is in his blood. Alex began working with the family company at 14 years old as a summer job. His grandmother, Jeanne Fauteux, taught him to sharpen chains at a young age, which led to acquiring an extensive skillset including felling with a chainsaw, operating any of the equipment seen on the job site, and intermediate mechanic work. He graduated from  Radford University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and a minor study of Economics.
